The East Algarve has beautiful, kilometers long, wide, sandy beaches. What makes it special is that the natural park Ria Formosa is in front of these beaches and most of the time you need a water taxi or ferry to go the beach. Even in the summer there is enough space on the beach so you can always find a quit place. The beaches near the towns all have facilities like parasols, sun beds, toilets and beach bars or restaurants. In the summer there are possibilities for water sports activities in several places.

The beautiful beach of Fuseta can be reached by ferry or water taxi. There is also a small beach at the lagoon which can be reached directly from the village. About 7 kilometres outside Fuseta is the beach Praia do Barril. To reach this beach you have to walk about 2 kilometres through the lagoons over a small paved path, which is a really nice walk. There is also a special little train which can take you to the beach.

Off course it is also worthwhile to visit the beaches in the West Algarve. It is nice to combine this with a boat trip to admire the rocky coastline and the caves. You can also make a walk on the cliffs. The most famous cave is at Benagil and really worth a visit.
